Ladies—as the summer sizzles out and a new season of activity rushes toward you, what does your heart long for? Surely all activity done for God’s glory is good, but how will you remain grounded in our shared eternal hope? Consider joining other women like you—busy and pressed—but with a common goal of drinking deeply of God. Women’s Bible Study has thrived at New Life Glenside for over 40 years because it gives ALL women – seasoned believers, new followers, and those considering the faith – the opportunity to delve into the richness of God’s Word together.

Each week you will complete study questions which examine the text and connect it to scriptural themes. You get to discuss your findings with others and listen to a lecture prepared by women in the study. Barbie, move over; this is holy women’s empowerment!!

This year we dive into the Book of Exodus. You will see God reveal Himself as the One who liberates us from slavery, just as He delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt. He uses Moses as the deliverer, giving us a picture of Christ as the mediator of the New Covenant— No more spoilers!! Join us! Refresh yourself in the midst of your busy life by meeting your Savior anew in Exodus.

Note: Many groups are forming now—in person and on Zoom. You are sure to find a group that will fit your schedule.

Linda Channing - November 2, 2020

Lesson 5 Ezra 5 Linda Channing

Ezra 5

From Series: "Restoring the Broken: A Study of Ezra and Nehemiah"

God’s people provoked the Lord to anger. Refusing to listen to the prophets who had been sent to them again and again, they continued in their evil practices and worshipped false gods. As a result, the temple where God’s presence dwelt amongst his people was destroyed and the people themselves were carried off to exile in Babylon. The Promised Land that had flowed with milk and honey became, as Jeremiah the prophet said, a “desolate wasteland.” BUT ————- a word of such hope in the midst of brokenness and loss when 70 years were fulfilled, God’s people would return to the land and rebuild the temple. More than just enabling this return and rebuilding, God set about restoring and rebuilding his people. If you like a love story, intrigue, plot twists, unexpected allies and enemies, perseverance in the midst of opposition, Ezra and Nehemiah, have it all. If the losses, disappointments, and unrest of 2020 have left you feeling disoriented, discouraged, and broken, this study is for you. We will see the persevering, tenacious love of God for his people and his rule over all things. We will see that he is able to restore what is broken, a broken land, a broken place of worship, and broken people. It is a message of hope that we desperately need to hear in our day.
